One of the challenging discussions in Mulla Sadra’s and Fakhruddin Razi’s philosophical school is similarity between the cause and the effect. Is the similarity between cause and effect in Mulla Sadra’s and Fakhr Razi’s view an accepted idea? Do Mulla Sadra and Fakhr Razi have common points in their view of similarity between the cause and the effect or they have chosen different viewpoints? In this article, we have answered the above questions by showing how Mulla Sadra considers similarity between the cause and the effect as an axiomatic and absolute idea and maintains that any effect does not result from any cause, and that there is an order in the nature suggesting precise relations among things; and on the other side, how Fakhr Razi denies similarity between God and the creatures due to commonality between necessary being and possible being as well as a restriction in God’s power, and considers it inconsistent with Exalted God’s purifying position.
