In a common famous classification, Islamic education is divided into three parts: doctrines, morality, and jurisprudence. The scientific legal reasoning in jurisprudence has always been considered with a certain historical background. However, in two spheres of doctrinal and moral knowledge, in spite of their great importance and influence on human's guidance, growth, individual and social perfection and felicity, scientific effort and legal reasoning has been in a low level. This article first presents the definition of legal reasoning and its meaning in doctrinal knowledge and specifies the borderline between doctrine, morality and jurisprudence. It also stresses on the generality of legal reasoning and its not being restricted to jurisprudence to prove – by stating the Quranic, traditional and rational evidences – the necessity of legal reasoning and deep inferential activity in the sphere of doctrinal knowledge. It then states the transmitted and rational evidences to conclude that it is necessary to do sufficient legal reasoning and inferential efforts in doctrinal knowledge just like jurisprudence.
