Some Western philosophy enthusiasts consider Islamic philosophy to be unproductive and ineffective. In his article “Contemporary Islamic Philosophy and the Challenges Ahead,” Dr. Ghodratollah Ghorbani collects most of the criticisms related to this field and presents them in eleven axes. The present study critically analyzes the aforementioned criticisms, and its most important results are: 1. Dynamic components have been selected without any logic and solely because of the Western philosophy’s association with them (confiscation of desirable). 2. Some components are self-defeating and others are repetitive. 3. “Diversity in the method and subject of philosophy” is a completely incorrect component that leads to scientific chaos. 4. “The abstractness of Islamic philosophy” does not mean mind-blowing, but rather means finding deeper layers of reality that others do not find.5. “Seeking independence” from the wrong words of the past is obvious, and from the right words of the past is an unreasonable approach. 6. “Avoiding dogmatism” is a desirable method that both Western and Islamic philosophy need for dynamism. 7. The components of “connection with the questions of contemporary man”, “applicability”, “interaction with other epistemological fields and philosophical schools”, “the possibility of producing an additional philosophy” and “theorizing instead of imitating” are useful, but Islamic philosophy, like Western philosophy, has some levels of them and lacks others. Their absolute exclusion from Islamic philosophy is inappropriate.
