The analysis of the process of human voluntary action is a contemporary issue in the philosophy of action. This study aims to organize the scattered remarks of Allameh Tabatabaʼi on this subject to clarify their relationship, firstly, with the theory of iʻtibārīāt (conventionalities) and, secondly, with Transcendent Wisdom (al-Hikmat al-Mutaʻāliyah). This study employs a descriptive-analytical method to examine his works. The innovations of this study include: 1. Aligning Allameh Tabatabaʼiʼs views with his other foundational principles. 2. Providing novel responses to serious questions about action based on this theory. 3. Explaining the gap between cognition and action by referencing the theory of iʻtibārīāt and how to reconcile cognitive and non-cognitive factors in the realization of action. 4. Presenting critiques of his views. The findings of this study indicated that, by incorporating iʻtibār (conventionality) into the process of realizing voluntary action, he could resolve the gap between cognition and action in a novel way. Additionally, the concept of attention (Iltifāt) plays a major role in connecting non-cognitive and cognitive principles of action. However, two critiques are raised against his theory: first, instead of iʻtibār of the necessity of existence, iʻtibār of necessity should be employed, and second, that the iʻtibār of goodness precedes the iʻtibār of necessity.
