The discussion on faith across various eras and among humanity reveals an inward, revelatory understanding of truth that has garnered attention from religious individuals, thinkers, and scholars from the past to the present. The significance of faith lies first in dividing societies, particularly those with a religious foundation, into “faithful” and “faithless” groups. Second, understanding its nature enables depicting human salvation, happiness, or misery and misfortune. If this depiction is flawed, man's material and spiritual lives face risks in belief and practice. The central question of this study is to analyze and extract Morteza Motahari's views on the concept of faith. By examining Motahari’s primary and original works, his perspectives on faith have been identified, categorized, and concluded. In his writings, Motahari addresses the topic of faith extensively. He linguistically derives the term "faith" from the root a-m-n, interpreting it as assurance and the absence of fear in the heart. He views the essence of faith as a means of social functionality and a source of tranquility in life, serving as the foundation for all virtues. Therefore, in his view, the nature of faith is both individual and social. Motahari considers the object of faith to be fundamentally tied to the unseen and regards its locus as the innate nature (fitrah) of humans. He attributes significant tangible characteristics and effects to faith. Ultimately, the conceptualization of faith in Motahari’s thought encompasses individuals' internal and external domains and divine revelation's narrated and rational aspects.
